[comp.graphics] CMYK color separation via computer for printing

derek@speedy.cs.wisc.edu (Derek Zahn) (11/11/88)

I need to find out how to calculate the proper Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, and
Black values from Red Green Blue input to produce plates for color printing.
I know the old standard 1-[RGB] = [CMY], but I wouldn't mind a somewhat more
accurate method for that, either. My biggest problem is that I don't know
exactly the best way to figure out how much black there should be. I know that
there should be some smaller quantity of black than the other three, and that
it should then be subtracted from them, but I'm not sure how much less than
the smallest of CMY.
Thanks in advance, and please respond via email as I don't follow this
newsgroup.
