Thanks too all those who replied to my quadric transformation problem. She's solved as you know if you have been reading this group. I got at least 10 responses, some better than others of course 8^). du dv du dv Tee hee heeeeeeeeee You know who you are. You just have to love USENET. Post a question about a problem, and the author of the paper you got the original info from replies and helps you out. Thanks Eric.... By the way, I would also like to know why some of the SIGGRAPH course notes aren't made availabe more easily. ( Is that good English??? ) The set I have ( 1987 Introduction to Ray Tracing ) has proved to be priceless in my implementation. I am sure many people out there would like to get there hands on them. Are they orderable from somewhere. Anyway, thanks again, and long live USENET -- Brian Corrie, University of Victoria, Victoria, B.C., Canada Under the most rigourously controlled conditions of pressure, temperature, volume, humidity and other variables, the organism will do as it damn well pleases. Don't worry, I know nothing of what I babble about.......

Brian Corrie at University of Victoria asked why some of the SIGGRAPH course notes aren't made available more easily. The simple answer is that SIGGRAPH chooses not to publish these notes each year. We do reproduce sifficient quantities for the course attendees and conference attendees who order extra copies. The logistics of printing and inventorying these notes are very considerable and the expense is in excess of $200,000. Additional logistics and expense for publishing course notes after the conference are presently judged to be not worth the value to SIGGRAPH. However, SIGGRAPH is sensitive to the desire to use these notes after the conference. We do distribute full sets of course notes to educational institutions and conference attendees who prepay for the full set. You should encourage your institution or library to acquire such a set. There is an educational discount; see the Computer Graphics newsletter for details. Furthermore, some of the SIGGRAPH course notes are being published by traditional publishers. Course organizers are free to make arrangements on their own and SIGGRAPH works with ACM Press to consider selected course each year. ACM Press will publish a couple of SIGGRAPH'87 course notes and is reviewing some from SIGGRAPH'88. Cheers Richard J. Beach SIGGRAPH Editor-in-Chief Graphics area editor, ACM Press
