I am looking for ftp sites for object databases of any sort, as long as some sort of conversion can be performed to use it with my ray tracer. My ray tracer supports spheres, arbitrary polygons, and quadric surfaces. Any format is acceptable as long as a clear description of the format is available. I already have Eric Haines nff database, as well as some of the other standards such as the teapot, x29, vw, goblet etc. Any information on ftp sites with these and other goodies on them would be greatly appreciated. There must be somebody out there who has been compiling an object database of some type. Sorry if this has been asked before, (it seems like it could fall into the ``Most asked question of the month'' category), but I haven't seen any ftp sites for object databases that I can recall, and if I did, they most definitely got lost in the byte shuffle of my limited disk space. I would really like to get some complex databases (of the magnitude of some of the nice images published in SIGGRAPH). I find these beasties are incredibly difficult to construct, and I HATE to do more work than I have to. If someone has a list of sites they may want to post it. If not, I will make a list and post it as soon as possible (assuming I get at least 1 response). Thanks folks. BTW - Does anyone have a nice database for the VW. Mine has lots of holes in it. I wouldn't want to ride in that BUG in a blizzard. Sounds like some of the code I have written!!!!! 8^) Don't worry, I know nothing of what I babble about.......
