I have a feeling that this may have been covered at one (or many) point(s) in time. At one time, I seem to remember a faction of folks who were going to prepare a catalog of prepared answers to questions like the one I am about to ask. A group I am involved in is looking into image storage and transfer. We would like to be able to take an image in any "standard" format and translate it to the standard format which is the most efficient for storage/transfer. We plan on writing (if necessary) the code to translate between all viable formats. All code written would be placed in the public domain. What I am after is a list of any and all image formats, with a brief description of how the image is stored. Also of interest are archiving algorithms which would be useful. References to articles relating to the above two topics would be of infinite help. Please reply using email, because I'm afraid the time that I used to devote to the net is no longer available. Thanks in advance for all replies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | David J.
