mlm@nl.cs.cmu.edu (Michael L. Mauldin) (03/06/89)

Alpha test version 0.86 of the Fuzzy Pixmap Package (FBM) is now
available. This version can now write Amiga IFF Interleaved Bitmaps
(ILBM) as well as read them. That means that the following image
formats are now readable and writable:

    Sun rasterfiles
    GIF images
    IFF Amiga interleaved bitmaps (ILBM)
    PBM bitmaps (ala Jef Poskanzer)

    Face files (CMU bitmap format)
FBM format (used within the FBM package)

With additional read support for

    PCX (PC Paintbrush)
Raw images (like Digi-view RGB output files)

And write support for

Postscript (8bit grayscale and 1bit bitmaps)
    Diablo graphics (8bit greyscale)

Actually, this is an Electronic Arts standard adopted by Commodore for the
Amiga. According to the docs it's used by Electronic Arts products on other
computers as well. Other IFF (interchange file format) standards include
musical scores, sampled sounds, and formatted text.
