			ACM SIGGRAPH EDUCATION COMMITTEE
			  1989 SIGGRAPH Careers Survey

The ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee is conducting another careers survey
by means of a standardized questionnaire. If you are a member of SIGGRAPH,
members will soon receive a copy of the Careers in Computer Graphics
Handbook, which contains a copy of the survey in the back of the text.
(If you would like to participate sooner, please feel free to request a
questionnaire discussed below.)

If you are not a member of SIGGRAPH, and you are a working member
of the computer graphics community, (this means everyone who has worked at
least three months or more) and you would like to participate in
the survey, you can acquire the survey in one of two ways:

	1.
You can send to me your mailing address via email. Please keep
the email message brief, as I anticipate I will receive a lot of
	email requests.

		stephan@sun.com
		Subject: SIGGRAPH Survey Request

	2.
You can mail a request for the form to:

		Stephan R. Keith
		ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee
		424 Custer Road
		Hayward, CA 94544.

I have a budget this time to mail these out; however, we ask that you
provide return postage to return a completed questionnaire (the survey is
four physical pages).

If you have filled out a questionnaire before, please do so again, as we
will be creating an entirely new data base.

The reason we are asking for information from working professionals this
time, is because the survey is designed to provide useful information for
individuals who wish to make informed career choices.

I want to thank all those who participated in the past. The information
you provided was extremely valuable for guiding the Education Committee
in the development of the Careers in Computer Graphics Handbook.

Many thanks for your consideration.

Stephan R. Keith

Other elements of interest:

SIGGRAPH '89 will be conducted in Boston. Should you want more
information about attending, please contact the SIGGRAPH Management
Office at 312/644-6610. You will want to ask for the SIGGRAPH '89
Advance Registration, and be prepared to give them a mailing address.
Members of SIGGRAPH will automatically receive the Advance Registration.

An Educator's Workshop: Careers in Computer Graphics, may be
conducted at SIGGRAPH '89, sometime the Sunday prior to the conference,
30 July 1989. The details are being worked out by the Co-Chairs,
and information should be available in the SIGGRAPH '89 Advance
Registration booklet should the workshop be finalized. Please do not
ask for details, they are not available yet, and they will be
announced when they become available; thank you for your patience.
