[comp.graphics] Bit map scaling

brett@sylvester (Brett S Bourbin) (11/10/88)

I am looking for a algorithm to do scaling of bitmaps. I want to
start with a large picture and be able to shrink it in size by n%. If anyone
knows of any algorithm to do this, in real time, please respond to me by
e-mail.

Thanks for any help you may lend.

Please post responses, I am interested in algoritms or references
to information on the subject.

Thanks,

Anyone know of any good/fast algorithms or source code for scaling
bi-level raster images? Recommendations for reference material
would also be appreciated. I have a need to scale images from 450 dpi
to 300 dpi in particular, but any general purpose algorithms would
be appreciated. Please E-mail any response.

		 Thanx in advance, Randy.

I too would like info on a good way to scale down a B&W image. Another
alogrithm I'm interested in is for converting a gray-scale image into B&W
using "Minimized Average Error" or "Error Diffusion".
E-mail any thoughts/code to ewing@tramp.colorado.EDU.

			Thanks much,
