[comp.graphics] ASCII Pics - The answer

chrisb@hubcap.clemson.edu (Chris Behrens) (05/24/89)

ASCII Pics available with anonymous FTP from 2 sites for sure...

They are :
   Plains.Nodak.Edu 192.33.18.50
and
   Grape.Ecs.Clarkson.Edu 128.153.13.196

Plus, I have a couple not found there generated by a "Snoopy" calendar
program written in WATFIV which runs on an IBM-370 machine.
I too would like to find more of this ASCII Screen Art.
Any Addresses or sites Greatly appreciated.

Concerning Ascii pics, there is a program (pd) for the Macintosh which
converts any bitmapped image into an ascii pic, has contrast & brightness
modification etc. Name is Pictall.
If anyone is interested in the source (its in MS Basic, so it should
be relatively easy to convert for any system) Im sure the author
(my younger brother) would be willing to distribute it for a modest fee.
(I'm guessing somewhere under $20... Ive been trying to convince him
to release it shareware..)
