We are currently working on the representation of control systems in a
computer aided engineering environment. A major part is the graphical
representation of both static and dynamic behaviour.
For reasons of portability, we would like to use a standard graphics
package. We have come to the conclusion that GKS does not meet our
demands, but we think PHIGS will. My questions are:
1. For which computers is PHIGS available, in particular workstations
(Sun-3, Silicon Graphics, DEC, IBM RT,...) ?
2. What are the current statuses of those implementations ?
3. Who has experience of using PHIGS ? Are there any textbooks or
lecture notes ?
Thank you for your help. Contributions will be compiled and posted
on request.

A useful survey of the GKS, GKS-3D and PHIGS implementations available
worldwide. Each product is described in terms of its relationship to the
respective standard, its hardware support, availability and price.
