I talked with some map developers at the Menlo Park branch today. There are eventual plans to distribute digitised maps, but nothing currently in place. I sometimes use use such data but obtain it informally from the developer or researcher. The Menlo Park and Reston branches got on the internet last, but I'm not aware of any ftp'able databases. The 3-6-89 Government Computer News reports the Defense Mapping Agency will sell three types of digitized maps later this year as a set of 400-500 CD-ROMS. These include (1) World Digital Terrain Elevation Data (raster), (2) Digital Features Polygonal (roads, rivers, etc.) and (3) Digital Features Raster.
