[comp.graphics] Need suggestion for graphic format

Hi,

for the BILUS project of the Technical University Berlin, we need to
make a decision what graphic format we _mainly_ support.

Keys factors are:

- big 24 bit images
- simple geometric objects

Of course we would like 

- exact description (standard)
- libraries and tools (in the public domain, of course (:-)), where we feel
  that dealing with the images (scaling, rotating, resizing) would be our
  biggest problem

Any suggestion?
