Dear SIGGRAPH'89 attendee,
(please forward to your colleagues who might be interested)

              SIGGRAPH'89 T-SHIRT CONTEST

There has been a long and informal tradition of making T-shirts for
SIGGRAPH. Not only are T-shirts a creative medium for computer
graphics but they have had a perceptible impact on the social and
technical aspects of SIGGRAPH. For example, the famous "No Jaggies"
shirt played an important role in increasing people's awareness of the
quality of computer graphics images.

To recognize and promote this aspect of SIGGRAPH, I am organizing a
T-shirt contest for SIGGRAPH'89. Awards will be given! A
distinguished jury of SIGGRAPH professionals will judge submitted
T-shirts in two categories: Technical and Artistic. Preference will
be given to T-shirts designed specifically for SIGGRAPH'89 and
produced with computer graphics technology. Technical entries should
relate to some aspect of the technical part of SIGGRAPH'89, such as
papers and panels.

The contest will take place on Thursday August 3 before and during the
technical program reception. Judging will begin at 6pm at a Hynes
location to be announced. Entries and awards will be presented at the
reception at 9:30pm. Check SIGGRAPH'89 bulletin boards for the final
contest schedule.

To enter the contest you must wear your T-shirt during the judging and
awards and bring to the judging eight copies of a nicely formatted
single page description that includes the name of the design, the
category it is being submitted in, who made it, how it was made, and
an explanation of the design. It will help the judging if you also
include a photo or image of the design.

Everyone can join in the fun! I strongly encourage those who are not
entering the contest to wear their favorite T-shirt from a past
SIGGRAPH to the technical program reception.

you can contact me at the following address after I return from
vacation July 17 or at the Sheraton hotel during the conference.
