Hi there... I have a program which works with a colormap that is an array of 256 RGB triples. I would like to know if someone has an algorithm (or even just the data) for generating a set of 256 RGB triples that represent a rainbow? (The first entry in the table would be (1,0,0) for pure red, and the last entry would be violet). I have a fairly decent version that a friend of mine hacked just sort of from intuition, which doesn't look too bad, but it could be improved. Actually, I'd also be interested in hearing the reasoning behind such an algorithm, if anyone can supply it. Please reply via E-mail; if I get many requests from others, I will post a summary. Thanks! -- Dave Hiebeler hiebeler@cardinal.lanl.gov Center for Nonlinear Studies hiebeler@cs.rpi.edu MS B258 Los Alamos National Laboratory / Los Alamos, NM 87545
