Apparently there are still a bunch of people using twixt/scn_assmblr (the old Ohio State animation system) on various platforms, and it seems that there is also a bunch of people who would like to use it. The system was developed under the auspices of NSF grants and by federal law is public property. I've been trying to handle support and distribution of the software, but it's not working out. I can afford about one afternoon per month to work on it, and that's not enough. What I'm wondering is how much interest is there in an effort to make the system viable? It currently supports E&S PS300 series and SGI 3000 and 4000 series, but not all that well. Personally, I'd like to see it running on other platforms, such as HP, Stellar, and Titan, but I can't do any of these. Are there people willing to port the software and have it make use of each platform's particular attributes? One thing I would insist on is that the ported system be made available for free (or distribution charge) through the relevant user's group or equivalent mechanism. Please email me if you have an interest in this subject. If there is enough interest, we should try to get together next week in Boston and discuss what to do next. -- "We must grasp the bull by the tail, and look the matter squarely in the face!"
