[comp.graphics] Sexism in Knick-Knack? Pshaw....

Some people have complained that the theme of the newest Pixar short
"Knick-Knack" was sexist. This kind of overly-sensitive criticism
really gripes me. Its the same kind of censorship that censors Bugs
Bunny cartoons (oooh, too violent) while letting GI Joe and Inhumanoids
(obvious ploys by toy manufacturers to sell merchandise) go unchecked.

The plot of Knick-Knack is not sexist. We have a nice little snow guy,
trying to escape his bubble and be with an admittedly chesty female.
Would people cry sexism if it was another snow-person? Someone who
obviously was less of a sex symbol? If you really are thinking about
this, don't bother because, gosh folks, its a CARTOON for god's sake.
These creatures are merely bits of plastic on a shelf. I doubt
seriously that little SnowGuy's lust will result in a tremendous blow to
women's rights, resulting in slavery for all of the female gender.

I also might add that in the cartoon, it was the FEMALE who initially
gave signs of interest to the little SnowGuy.

I'd go on about this, but it is pointless. The people at Pixar have
generated a truly humorous, light cartoon feature, and I for one enjoyed
it immensely. The 3-D effects were subtle, and therefore much easier
to take than some of the other features, which had my eyes crossing and
uncrossing in an attempt to focus.

Anyway, don't let rumors about "sexism" keep you from seeing Knick-Knack,
go see it if you get the chance, and decide for yourself.
