I am one of the fortunate people who had an expense account at SIGGRAPH. I also had a huge room with two beds at the Hilton, which had I realized... I would have offered to share with a student. It was a very expensive conference! Worth every penny, but expensive! I was amazed at the number of people who were there on their own, and paying their own way. Perhaps there is some way of pairing up students with people in the business. A difficult task, but one that would be worth it for all concerned. Traveling by yourself can be a drag somtimes too! Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Alan Kennedy The Image Group Toronto, Ontario --- * Via ProDoor 3.0R

Being a student myself, I am *very* interested. I don't know of any service which tries to get people together. Perhaps schools may do this internally: I certainly don't know of anyone here at Carnegie Mellon who considered this or offered. Might it be possible to just have a site where people can email their location and plans, and others can then browse through this listing? It could get purged on specified dates each year or 6 months, to keep load down. Looking forward to going to SIGGRAPH some day, Jon Slenk / js9b+@andrew.cmu.edu
