has appeared in Bay Area bookstores fas a paperback for $25. The last couple of chapters echo the preliminary RenderMan specification shipped by Pixar. The preceding chapters are a very lucid introduction to RenderMan and computer graphics. There are LOTS of RenderMan code examples that will be of great help when vendors start shipping this product. There is the bonus of a brief description of recent Pixar animations using RenderMan, including "Abyss."

Just to give credit where credit is due, the animation for "The Abyss" was not done by Pixar. It was done by Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) using Pixar's Photorealistic RenderMan software. Steve thanks you for the compliments on the book, though. Mike Malione
