[comp.graphics] MTV don't work for me!

Sorry to take up the bandwidth, but mail bounced, so...
I just ftp'd the MTV tracer from cs.uoregon.edu.  On a couple of the files
I've tried it on (e.g. teapot.nff and tree.nff) it works fine, but on the
'balls' and 'rings' images, it runs through the initial setup (all the way to
printing 'ray: extent of scene') and then dies:
floating exception - core dumped
does anyone know what this might be?  It's really bugging me...
Oh, BTW, we're running 4.23 BSD
