I have several Targa 16 files that I would like to false color. The Targa 16 file format allows up to 32768 colors in an image and I would like to reduce that number to, say, 64 or 256 colors spread across the a given range of color (false color, not quantized). What I need is an algorithm that has for an input how many possible colors are in the image (bits per pixel), how many total false colors to use, and what the range of the false colors should be (in RGB or HSI). Code or references to texts will be gladly accepted. -- "I'm an anthropologist, not a computer systems architect, damit!" jdm@hodge.cts.com [uunet zardoz crash]!hodge!jdm James D.
