SIGGRAPH has established a consistent electronic mail addressing convention to simplify access to people and groups within the organization. Thanks go to Xerox PARC and their experiences with a similar addressing convention for SIGCHI. The benefits include consistency in addressing people, shielding most people from changes in mail routing, and improved reliability through a central robust mailer. The general convention is to address electronic mail in the form: Surname.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com where Surname is the name of an individual or a standing committee. For example, mail to Jim Thomas, the Chair of SIGGRAPH, would be addressed to <Thomas.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com>. A few surrogate names have also been created: Postmaster.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com - please report troubles here SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com - forwarded to Postmaster SIGGRAPH@Arisia.Xerox.com - forwarded to Postmaster Contributions to the Computer Graphics newsletter should be mailed to Newsletter.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com - submit articles here Several distribution lists have been created for use by committees: EC.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com - the Executive Committee CPC.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com - the Conference Planning Committee EC+CPC.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com - the combined committees EducationCommittee.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com - Educators take note LocalGroupSteeringCommittee.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com - ... SIGGRAPH89.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com - the '89 Co-Chairs and coordinator SIGGRAPH90.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com - the '90 Co-Chairs and coordinator SIGGRAPH90Committee.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com - the '90 conference committee SIGGRAPH91.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com - the '91 Co-Chairs and coordinator Occasionally, collisions will occur when there are several SIGGRAPH people with the same surname. Please resolve these collisions by using their familar first name and surname in the form: FirstnameSurname.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com For example, BertHerzog.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com reaches the Chair of the SIGGRAPH Awards Committee and BrianHerzog.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com reaches the SIGGRAPH'90 Treasurer. I welcome any comments or suggestions to improve this service. Richard J. Beach SIGGRAPH Editor-in-Chief <Beach.SIGGRAPH@Xerox.com>
