[Apologies in advance if this is too obvious for words.]
I have seen countless requests for info on (e.g.) TIFF in this group
but have waited in vain for an answer. I therefore hereby risk wasting
net bandwidth as follows:
TIFF (Tag Image File Format) is explained in detail in an article
in Dr. Dobbs Journal, May 1988, pp. 26-55. This article also appears
in the Dr. Dobbs collection (Vol. 13 I believe) but that book is
about $40. If you can find the Microsoft Systems Journal, it's also
discussed in there, (Nancy Andrews and Stan Fry "TIFF: An Emerging
Standard for Exchanging Digitized Graphics Images," July 1987, pp.
71-6). You can probably write Microsoft and ask for TIFF info in
general, or at least to ask them for a copy of the article.
for a copy of this article.
The TIFF Library Package (in the public domain) is availabe on the
Mac from:
Bear River Assoc., P.O. 1900, Berkeley, CA 94701
or for PCs from
DEST Corp., Attn. Debra Levesque, 1201 Cadillac Ct., Milpitas, CA
95035.
I sincerely hope this article, along with another on other formats
I just saw today, is of use to enough people to justify its existence.
Regards, Tim Scott
