Tom Furness, creator of the "Super Cockpit" for the USAF and 23-year veteran researcher in the field of virtual interfaces (so-called "virtual realities") will speak at the University of Washington this Thursday, October 26, at 12:30 PM in Elec. Eng. Bldg. 321. This lecture is open to the public. Furness, who recently left the USAF Medical Laboratory at Wright- Patman AFB, is now director of the new Human Interface Technology Laboratory at the University of Washington. Its charge is to develop civilian applications for virtual-interface technology in the areas of human-complex systems interactions, entertainment and creativity, education (including "learning prostheses" for the learning disabled), and biomedical research and health practice.
