[comp.graphics] simple objects for ray tracers

tmb@wheaties.ai.mit.edu (Thomas M. Breuel) (11/28/89)

For my research in computer vision, I am looking for input files
describing simple objects such as telephones, cars, geometric solids,
animals, etc. The objects don't have to be very complex, and any input
format is fine. For example, if you hacked up an image simply to try
out one of the PD ray tracers, I'd like to hear about it. This
shouldn't be any work for you, just drop them into an (electronic)
envelope and send them to me at "tmb@ai.mit.edu"; brief comments
regarding non-obvious/strange file formats would, of course, be
appreciated.

If you know of any data bases/libraries of 3D objects (commercial or
free), I'd also like to hear about it.

					Thanks for your help,
					Thomas.

I can't remember where, but I have seen various ray-tracable datasets of
the SIGGRAPH teapot floating about... Does anyone know where it/they are?
