[comp.graphics] Pixar RenderMan shipping

rick@hanauma (Richard Ottolini) (12/12/89)

according to 12/11 InfoWorld. $3000 on DOS-386, Sun-3,4 and Silicon Graphics
4D. It is called a "Developer's Toolkit", I presume to disinguish it from
turnkey applications. Programmers would add CAD, animation, and scientific
visualization front ends to complete and application. No mention was made
whether source code was included or academic discounts, although Pixar gives
discounts on its hardware. The RenderMan book has been in bookstores since
summer.
