I am interested in what facilities exist for doing advanced
3D graphics on Sun4 and Sparc workstations. In particular, I am
interested in algebraic/parametric shaded surface display and
animation. The machines I'm working on have the cgsix graphics
accelerator that uses 8 bits of color and improves vector/polygon
display speed.
Thus, I would like to know of the following:
1) software packages for 3D graphicS
2) hardware boards/upgrades for Sun4/Sparc that improve
quality/performance of 3D graphics, especially
shaded polygon display. For instance, a 24-bit frame
buffer would be nice.
Mainly I'd like to know what's available now (both commercial and public
domain), but information about facilities in the making will also
be welcome.
If I get enough information, I will summarize to the net.
Thanks,
Andrew Royappa
