[comp.graphics] X Windows Graphics Editors

bregou@northstar75.dartmouth.edu (Lou Bregou) (02/20/90)

I am currently working on a project that requires a large detailed
picture. Is anyone familiar with an X graphics editor that can handle
objects such as squares, circles, and lines. I really do not want to
use bitmap on this one! Thanks.

Please post any replies! Guess I'm not the only one
looking for such a beast....

There's a fairly good "office quality" X-based graphics editor in
DECwindows on DEC workstations. It allows you to draw basic shapes,
fill with various patterns, control line width, scale/crop/invert/move
objects, etc. Output formats are X bitmaps, DDIF, and PostScript.

I've heard that some other vendors are supplying similar tools with
their X packages.
