Aside from the documentation from "The Guide to Tagged Image File Format"
put out by H.P. is there any other reference that can give light to CCITT/3?
(Compression and decompression as used in Tiff reading and writing.)

Any insight would be appreciated.

The definition of the CCITT Group III facsimile compression method is to
be found in the following document:

    "Terminal Equipment and Protocols for Telematic Services: Recommendations
     of the T Series", CCITT Red Book, vol. VII, fascicle 3.  CCITT, Geneva.

See specifically recommendations T.4 for Group III and T.5 for Group IV.
