Is anyone out there scanning images under SunOS? I do not seem to be able to find anyone doing this - interestingly enough, I can find lots of IBM PC and Mac folks - even Apple II folks - scanning in images. And folks using HP's and a few other workstation environments. But around this area most folks have to either scan in images and then try to convert them or hire someone to scan the images in. The problem with scanning in on a Mac and then converting is that I am having some problems getting the images converted. For instance, if I use MacPaint as the format, I lose resolution and have problems with scaling the image. If I use PICT, the picttopbm filter throws away all the segments that the Mac software uses, resulting in an empty image. So I am left with TIFF, but the Mac image doesn't look as great as I need. I am hoping to experiment with various settings to see if I can get a better scan, but would like to swap notes with someone else if possible. -- Larry W.
