[comp.graphics] Yoichiro Kawaguchi

In article <843@theseas> nfotis@theseas (Nikolaos Fotis) asked
about the algorithms that Yoichiro Kawaguchi uses in his GROWTH animations.

Last I heard (several years ago), he renders using the LINKS parallel processor
developed at the University of Osaka, running software developed there and/or
at Toyo Links Corporation for "blobby modeling". See the paper

for a description of blobby modeling and rendering. Other aspects of the
model are created using a recursive tree generator, which I believe
he described in a SIGGRAPH '82 paper. Except for the rendering, most of it
is pretty simple software, it appears. What requires more work is the
aesthetic selection of colors, lighting, and motion.
