[comp.graphics] Video & Audio Synchronization, MIDI info?

    I am interested in knowing what are the different methods for 
    synchronizing video and audio in a workstation environment.    
    What is a Muscial instructment device interface (MIDI)? How
    does it work? Any suggestions on how to acquire such info would
    be greatly appreciated.
