I am looking for a videocamera with the following attributes: -> 1280 X 1024 or similar (prefer greater) resolution -> easily programmable exposure parameters for supporting multiple film types. -> Ethernet connection for sending images, photograph commands, and exposure parameters -> Reasonably fast photograph operation: less than 15 seconds from the start of downloading to the end of the photograph -> 35MM still camera and 16MM movie camera options -> $10K to $20K price range That's not asking for too much, is it? :-) We are currently using a RAMTEK 9460 dual graphic display with a Matrix 3000 camera on one screen and a Dunn instruments model 632 camera on the other. We have replaced our old reliable Vax 11/780 with a Sun 4/280 and all of our video equipment has become obsolete. I would like to find a videocamera that plugs directly into the network and has its own internal video generator and RAM. Such a machine would function as a standalone machine that could serve more than one machine and would remain useful as the various computers become obsolete. I have some info on a Focus 4600/4700 camera that will do most of the things I want and will adapt to a variety of video formats. Does anybody have any good/bad experience with this device? Also, does anybody have any experience with the new Matrix 6000 series? I heard that the video format is fixed and the camera has to be built to order for a given video format. P.S. I have a list of useful mods for the Matrix 3000 camera that allow it to run for more than a few weeks between repairs. I also wrote a useful film calibration program that runs on VAX/VMS. Email me for info.
