I'm looking for a good french/italian bread recipe. I've been recently transplanted from the Chicago suburbs to Atlanta Ga. While in Chicago, I was able to buy the most delicious french bread at many major supermarkets (Jewel, Dommenicks...). The bakery's name: Gonnella. Down here, french bread (without making a special trip to the baker) comes in a plastic bag, and has no texture to speak of. (I like a good "chew" in my bread... italian bread should not be mushy like standard "white bread" The Gonnella loafs were unwrapped and kept an excellent crust) Can anyone provide a recipe for a good, crusty loaf? I'll be forever indebted... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid altogether.
