[comp.graphics] wanted: good PD volume rendering package

hi,
We are looking for a good public domain volume rendering package, for
visualizing serial sections obtained from light microscopy. The microscope is
hooked up to a home made digitizing setup such that we can obtain greyscale
images of each section and view them on a pc. What we need now is some way to
generate a 3D image of the object and be able to view it from different angles
(in real-time !!). We have access to an iris 4D/25GT and a IBM RISC/6000 530
with a 24 bit graphics board( same as on the iris I guess). VoxelView was
reccomended, but is way tooooo expensive.
  Any suggestions ?.
Himanshu.
