Something that I've been wanting to do for a long time is create a short animated film using computer animation. I've finally come to the conclusion that I'll never do it alone (not that it took me too long to realize this). I'm looking for people with diverse interests, since an animated film is not just whizzy graphics, it includes an interesting story and characters. Therefore if you are interested in participating in this project let me know, it should be fun! -- name : David Koblas domain: koblas@cs.uoregon.edu place: Nowhere, I'm just an AI batch job. domain: koblas@mips.com quote: "Time has little to do with domain: koblas@riacs.edu infinity and jelly donuts." domain: koblas@stellar.arc.nasa.gov

It's really hard to do it all yourself, though there are people out there who can. If you're after a great story with great backgrounds and terrific music, you'll want to find some more people. >I'm looking for people with diverse interests, since an animated >film is not just whizzy graphics, it includes an interesting >story and characters. You'll want have several meetings on the story. It may take several weeks to develop. Then you'll need to storyboard it. Remember, you have to plan every last detail in animation. And don't forget the soundtrack. It's half the film. I directed a short film that is being used as the opener for a local cable show (NAG-TV). We called the film 'QWERTY Dancing'. It showed at the Montreal Computer Animation Festival last year. I'm working on a new film called Joyride now. I think it's great you want to make a film. Just remember, it's not easy, and you have to have the inner drive to finish it. >name : David Koblas domain: koblas@cs.uoregon.edu -- // -Ken Baer. if you're interested in quick and dirty animation AUTODESK has a product for the PC called ANIMATOR. It does 320x200x256 resolution/colors and a single person can do some impressive work by himself. I search the Bulletin Boards for PC's and import parts of GIF files to create the parts of the flick being put together and use the ANIMATOR to provide the motion. You can probably see a demo video tape in a local Computer Store. Willie Akana /Naval Postgraduate School/

It WILL take LOTS of time... My class put together a film called Venus and Milo for this year's SIGGRAPH (it made the screening room) It took a whole class all semster and most of the summer, and it was only 3 minutes! This is not a trivial undertaking.
