Some manufacturers are bringing out electric stoves that have cast iron elements instead of the normal ceramic spiral. These new elements are solid and screwed into the surface of the stove so that spills stay on top of the stove. The literature says - easy clean up - long warm up time (3-5 min) but same cool down time --- this allows you to turn it off before you finish cooking - five year warranty. Has anyone had experience with these? Are they a pain to cook on? Is clean up really easier? Do they break down faster than normal elements (come to think of it, what is the warranty on normal elements?). Are they easy to replace? Are replacement elements reasonably priced? Thanks in advance. -- Bryan M. Kramer Department of Computer Science University of Toronto Toronto, ON M5S 1A4 {cornell,decvax,ihnp4,linus,utzoo,uw-beaver}!utcsrgv!utai!kramer
