     Infinite Illusions: The World of Electronically Created Imagery
        	          September 8-16, 1990
                            Washington, D.C.


The Smithsonian Resident Associate Program presents a state-of-the-art 
computer graphics symposium - nine days and evenings showcasing the latest
developments and equipment in the field, augmented by panels of eminent 
specialists in computer graphics as well as hands-on demonstrations of an 
impressive array of the newest hardware and software. The Smithsonian 
symposium inaugurates a tour of the Infinite Illusions exhibition which 
will travel to leading science and technology centers and art museums 
across the country in 1990/1991.

The symposium includes daily classes and panels, film shows, digital art 
exhibits and hands on demonstrations with a multitude of computer graphics
software packages utilizing the most technologically advanced computer
equipment.

The panels and classes explore developments in exciting new fields such as 
virtual environments, as well as interactive multimedia, which promises a 
new and extremely powerful method of educating our children.
