I have a Mac IIcx with a monochrome portrait monitor running off the standard portrait video card. This allowed me four shades of grey. When I discovered that the card had eight expansion sockets I ran out and bought the expansion kit, and now get 16 shades of grey. The problem is that I have a number of programs (like the NIH image program, or QuickGif and its' relatives) that either demand 256 shades to run, or simply don't run well with less than that. Is there any way to upgrade my system to display 256 shades, or is there really no way to do this with a monochrome monitor? I've already done the obvious thing, which was to take the box in to the local campus Mac repair shop to verify that neither the original video card or the upgrade was bad. Any hints? If there is any interest in this I'll post a summary. Please reply by email to allenk@snoopy.colorado.edu Thanks in advance -Keith Allen | "All problems mine, the University thinks I have all this stuff | | figured out." |
