new GIF89a document which details the current standards.
i am interested in getting a copy of the new GIF standard.
unfortunately, i do not have access to compuserve. i'm sure
there are others that are in the same boat.
if somebody who has already obtained a copy of the standard
from compuserve could make it available via anonymous FTP
somewhere, they'd be doing the GIF hacking community a service.
if i can obtain a copy, i'd be happy to spread it around to
existing FTP sites (or possibly even entertain a _limited_
number of e-mail requests).
suggestions, flames, pointers, and the like are welcome.

a few days ago, i posted:

since then, a kind soul has mailed me a copy of the GIF89a standard.
as i mentioned before, i'm be willing to entertain a _limited_ number
of "me-too" e-mail requests.
in the interest of making the information more widely available, i'll
give preference to those people who are willing to make the standard
available by anonymous FTP (and are willing to have themselves
mentioned as such in a followup to this message in a week or two).

As there seemed to be enough interest for Mr. Johnson to post his
message, I am also putting the copy of the GIF 89 spec. up for anonymous
ftp from this host (milton.u.washington.edu, 128.95.136.1). The path is
public/misc/GIF8{7,9}a_spec.txt.Z.
