Often times there comes up in comp.graphics the plea for some kind of information that is readily accessible if you have a good library. Unforunately not all libraries are good, while some are good although small, and may not carry the exact issue of a periodical you're looking for. Here is the most recent example: : Every document I've seen on GIF compression refers to an issue of : IEEE Computer (June 1984 to be specific), but our library doesn't : carry the magazine [...] Most libraries utilize a service called ``inter-library loan'' that allows them to borrow (in the case of articles, obtain a copy) the material for a short time. I have done this and it can be worthwhile; unfortunately you have to know *exactly* what you're looking for there isn't any way to remotely browse (I guess you could dial-up the card catalog for some libraries). Anyway, you can usually obtain the material in < 2 weeks, depending on the two libraries rate of progress. -- Rich Rich Thomson thomson@cs.utah.edu {bellcore,hplabs,uunet}!utah-cs!thomson ``If everybody is thinking the same thing, is anybody thinking?'' --Bob Johnson
