I think the FAQ posting is big enough to warrant some simple pointers to the changes in each posting. It comes out infrequently enough that previous issues have expired, so diffs are not possible. (I refuse to save a copy each time just so I can do the diff next time.) A simple key preceding the questions would suffice. Place a "+" in front of new questions, and a "!" in front of questions whose answers have changed since the last posting. In the rare case that a question is deleted, simply place a "-" in front of the question and delete the answer that follows. Alternatively, a context diff could also be posted along with the FAQ posting, presumably by Jef. -- Skip (montanaro@crdgw1.ge.com)

If you want to post diffs, that's fine. Or if someone wants to take over posting the FAQ, that's fine too. I'm a strong believer in cross-fertilization. The thing is, I don't see why anyone would *want* to actually read the FAQ more than once, even if it has been changed. It's for beginners, and it's for reference, but it's certainly not for weekly reading. --- Jef Jef Poskanzer jef@well.sf.ca.us {ucbvax, apple, hplabs}!well!jef "No state shall make anything but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts." -- the United States Constitution
