I am looking for a GIF viewer with the following specifications:
1. must handle 360x480x256 (emulate Super VGA on a standard VGA
board)
2. must execute via command line
For example, CShow meets requirement #1 (under option 720x480x256)
but is strictly menu based.
If anyone has any information about such a product, either commercial
or shareware, I would be interested in hearing.

Downside is that the GIF decoder function is slower than Cshow. You didn't say what should happen after the image is displayed on the screen. You should add "askvideo=no" to the command line or the sstools.ini file and make sure you have created the fractint.cfg file to avoid interactive prompts.

The shareware program PICEM meets both these requirements, and isn't overkill either. Try a local BBS or a generic archive.
