I have two requests. First, can anyone direct me to a reference on Kuhn's triangulation? It is a way to pack space with tetrahedra that is "well known in the multivariate spline literature", even though I can't find any of that literature. Second, can anyone provide me with a general name for any item in the sequence bintree, quadtree, octtree, hexadecatree, ... that is better than "2^d-ary tree" and has appeared in the literature before? I thought "polytree" would be a good name (as in, quadtree == 2-dimensional polytree), but someone already used it for something else. A brief examination of Samet's books hasn't turned up anything appropriate. Thanks. Mail to me and I'll summarize in a week (if I get any response). Dougm
