I recently posted asking if anyone knew whether there existed a Sun or Mac package or application that would convert a PICT2 (24bit deep) image to some other more useful (to us) format. As many replies pointed out, Adobe Photoshop did the job very well. It is able to convert from a bunch of formats to a bunch of others including raw, PIXAR (picio), etc. (I remember these because they are the ones we needed). It also allows one to save the 3 channels (R, G, B or C, M, Y) separately, in any of the formats it supports. I found the program very useful. Thanks to all who helped - maybe this will help someone else. Carlo. -- carlo@cvs.rochester.edu | carlo@white.stanford.edu | We always remember you have a choice. carlo@vision.arc.nasa.gov |

But I would like to know, if there is a conversion program on the unix side. There has been a posting in alt.graphics.pixutils (24 July) including picttoppm and ppmtopict (good for the pbmplus kit). But these programs don't support 24 bit (or 32 bit) PICT2's. Anybody out there who knows a program to read/write 24 bit PICT2's on a unix system?
