We're currently working on an automatic graph layout component of a graphic model-based software prototyping environment, and wondering whether any of you out there has done some work on the subject. Basically what we're trying to achieve is to obtain aesthetically pleasing as well as meaningful graph display from a formal description of a graph model, such as ER or dataflow diagrams. During past several weeks, I've been reading works done by Roberto Tamassia (Brown) and his colleagues (Rome) as well as those by Joe Marks (Harvard) and Yuki Watanabe (UNC). If any of you happens to know other sources, I would greatly appreciate your sharing of the information. --dadong
