Besides the PHIGS extensions to X, are there other graphics packages that can work within X windows? I'm especially concerned about doing 3D graphics, but have an application that is 2D only.

Try to get a Starbase Device Drivers Manual from HP. We offer the sox11 driver (Starbase on X) for doing remote graphics in X. If you are thinking of local graphics in X (not over the network) all our graphics libraries do allow this (but there are a lot of other vendors). Ciao, Steffen
