I have just started looking at XGL 1.0 on the SparcStations here in our animation lab at Georgia Tech. So far I am fairly impressed with the demo programs. Does anyone have any suggestions as to whether developing code to render 3-D wire frames under XGL would be a wise move? Is XGL stable, or is it just another 3-D system? Does Sun or anyone else plan to continue release better versions with bug-fixes? Any advice, information, or rumors would be appreciated.

Is XGL If you need a display list (and don't want to write your own) forget it. XGL provides high performance but only supports immediate mode. -- Rob Gabbard (uunet!sdrc!evgabb) Technical Development Engineer Structural Dynamics Research Corp
