Aims and Scope:
Man-computer interaction utilizes very few of the interaction possibilities
compared to the way a human being interacts with his environment in his
everyday life, which includes text, pictures, moving pictures, sound, spoken
language, gestures, facial expression etc. Multimedia deals with the problem
and possibilities of integrating in a computer the different input and
output media channel/modes. For the user this could mean improved access to
the computer.

The fast development of computer technology implies new possibilities to
integrate systems using different media. It also means that many new problems
have to be solved. How should we design the interaction between the user and
the system? How can a user make his own application? What data formats are
needed to store multimedia information? What kind of applications exist for
multimedia? What kind of systems exist and what kind of systems can be built?
How can multimedia information be accessed? What is multimedia, what
differentiates it really as a separate field (or is a separate field at all)?

The purpose of the workshop is to improve the exchange of experience and
knowledge between people representing different expertise in the
interdisciplinary area of multimedia systems by discussing questions
concerning multimedia.

Authors are invited to send four copies of an extended abstract or position
paper (up to 6 pages) to the address below. Abstract submitted after the
deadline might still be considered, but will have a lower priority for
inclusion in the programme. Invitations to submit revised versions for a
proceedings (in the EurographicsSeminars Series, Springer Verlag) will depend
on the quality of the contribution.
