Another cookbook which has been destroyed by "improvement" is the Better Homes&Gardens _NEW Cookbook_. My mother has a circa 1960 edition which has done yeoman service through the years. Recently my parents gave me a new edition (funny, it's still called the NEW cookbook). The only resemblance I can find between it and its predecessor is the cover and the title. It's much smaller (acheived by shrinking the size of the pages), almost none of the old recipes were retained, and everything I've tried from it has failed-- a problem I don't have with my other cookbooks.
