[comp.graphics] IBM PC-AT/386 3-D Graphics

Hello All;

I have several questions relating to the subject of 3-D
graphics.

1) I'd like to know what type of color scanners are generally
used for scanning color photographs which are converted into
GIF files ???

2) I'm going to begin doing some work requiring me to generate
3-D animation on an IBM PC-AT or 386. I have decided that Frame
animation would be the fastest and most effective. I'm planning
to develop the display routines using "C". Is this in fact, the
best way to do it ??? I have a fairly complex object to model
(Ie. The Space Shuttle). Is there any way that It would be
feasable for me to draw the frames dynamically on a hidden page
after performing the necessary rendering calculations before I
display the frames on an IBM PC-AT or would this be too slow and
not very effective ??? I plan to use Super VGA graphics for the
entire project.

3) Can anyone suggest methods for developing a database of
frames for every several degrees of rotation of any desired
object ??? Is it necessary to take a photograph of every frame
and then scan it into your database or is there some other
magical way it can be done ???

4) Are there any expecially good anonymous FTP sites which have
IBM PC/VGA Graphics and Animation programs, demos, pictures, and
samples ???

5) Finally, can you recommend any good books on the subject of
3-D graphics and animation which are not too sophisticated ???

Thank you very much in advance
