I am not sure if this is the right group to post this to but I'll just take a chance. This request is posted for a colleague here at the TNO Institute for Building and Construction Research. After reading the article Chin, J.H., T.D. Panczak, L. Fried, "Finite Element and RayTracing in coupled Thermal Problems" Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. he now would like to know if anyone has got any experience in the use of raytracing (the Monte Carlo raytracing procedure in particular) in combination with a finite element approach in order to perform thermal analysis for complex systems. This described approach should "..permit the solution of the thermal analytical problem in a consistent manner, wherein the generally nonisothermal character of a system is modeled more closely than in the traditional procedures". - Can anyone supply him with additional information about this technique ? - Has anyone got a reference to a description where this raytracing technique is explained in more detail ? - Is there some implementation of this technique available ?
